Do you need a reset to free you from a rut? Do you go about your routine alone? Do you really know who you are and what you have? Let's talk about it. Welcome to the Your God Sister Podcast, where we address challenges with biblical answers and have fun doing it. A couple of constants here are what the Bible says and what the Lord speaks to our hearts by the Holy Spirit. My name is Joy Cooper. I am an associate pastor. I am a youth minister, and through the years I've had the opportunity to mentor young ladies. But on this podcast, I'm your God sister. Hello. Today I am here with you. This is the surefire way to break free from any rut. And it's super simple. Do you want to know what it is? Do you really want to know? Here it is. Don't leave God out of your routine. That's how we get out of any rut. Don't leave God out of your routine. He gave it to me like this. My routine minus God equals a rut. Remember how we would be in school and we had to remember like formulas? Remember that. Your routine minus God equals a rut. The minute you leave him out, you're in a rut. And as we will always, always, we will bring up Jesus as our example. He shows us how we are to live on this earth. Jesus cued us in on this, if you want to call it, you know, everybody's like, oh, this is a life hack. Well, this is a true life hack. John 5, verse 30. And I want to read it in the Amplified Classic Edition. This is Jesus speaking. I am able to do nothing from myself, independently of my own accord, but only as I am taught by God. And as I get his orders, even as I hear, I judge. I decide as I am bidden to decide. As the voice comes to me, so I give a decision. And my judgment is right, just righteous, because I do not seek or consult my own will. I have no desire to do what is pleasing to myself, my own aim, my own purpose, but only the will and pleasure of the Father who sent me. You need to save that verse, you need to highlight that verse, you need to write that verse on a chalkboard 100 times. That right there, to be honest with you, unfortunately, that right there is not how most Christians live. But we should. No, he is to be so close because we're to be listening to him all the time. So how do we how do we put God into our routine? You know, you think about routines, you think about, you know, every day you wake up, you brush your teeth, you shower, you get dressed, you go out into the world. That's a routine. But what would it be like to take God with you? What would it be like that as you're brushing your teeth, you're thinking to him, about him, speaking to him. That changes everything. That keeps boredom out. That keeps um just feeling like blah, that keeps that out. That keeps out being and feeling disengaged with life. I can share there was a time when I um needed some, I needed some information from the Lord, and I didn't know particularly what I needed to hear, but I was brushing my teeth, routine, routine activity, brushing my teeth, and just thinking about him, talking to him, and he spoke to my heart, immediately handling something that was trying to close in on me. And freedom came just like that. Just while brushing my teeth. I wasn't in church, I wasn't, you know, I wasn't reading the Bible at the time, just brushing my teeth, thinking about him, being hooked up to him, so to speak, being engaged with him. And that was the opportunity for him to speak to me. So this scripture here in John, that was how Jesus lived his life, always listening, always hearing, always uh checking checking in. Father, what are you saying? What do I need to know? What do I need to do? That's exciting. This is an exciting way to live. Can you imagine? You know, those movies where you'll have somebody um doing whatever, you know, it's usually some like action movie, and they'll have like an earbud in their ear, and somebody somewhere else is telling them what to do. Turn here. Oh, they're coming, go the other way, or you know, run here, or this is the code for that keypad. Think about that. You got somebody in your ear telling you things you don't know that you need to know, and that will bring success. Well, guess what? We're not in a movie, but we have that available to us 24-7. The Holy Spirit, the Bible says, teaches us all things, reminds us the things that Jesus has spoken. That's the kind of life that you want to live. That is what is available, that is what is offered to us. So, again, you want to get out of a rut? Invite God in. Let him tell you turn here, say this, don't say that, buy this, return that. Don't eat this, don't eat that, you know. These things, he wants to be with us, he wants to lead our lives, and again, we can trust him. We talked about that. We can trust him. We could say yes to him first. We know his leading is always going to be for our benefit. So, what do I want to do today? Today, I want to look at some routine situations in the Bible and how they didn't fall into the rut category because God was not left out. And this was so, you know, as I was preparing for today's episode, just listening to the Lord, it was so interesting. I was going one direction, and the Holy Spirit led me this direction. That is what I'm talking about. That is how we can live. And so that excites me and should excite you because it's like, oh, the Holy Spirit led to go this way. Okay, this I want to hear. This I've got to hear. That's our lives, that's the excitement. So, you know, already there's a routine for me doing the episode, there's a way that I do it and all that kind of stuff. There's a way that I prepare, but I'm not leaving him out. I'm like, Holy Spirit, you lead me, you guide me every time before I press record. I say, Father, I want what you want to say to anybody listening. And that gives him free, free will in this time together. It gives him the opportunity and the space to be heard. We need to hear him. Oh, this is so good. Oh, I get so excited. I really do. I get so excited. Okay, now we're looking at some of the routine situations in the Bible and how God was not left out. So then those routines weren't a rut. Okay. Number one, a routine situation in the Bible. I'm just gonna say it like this lunch. Lunch. How routine could lunch be? Very routine. Most people have lunch every day. But let's look at Matthew 14, 15 through 21. When it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a deserted place, and the hour is already late. Send the multitudes away that they may go into the villages and buy themselves food. But Jesus said to them, They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat. And they said to him, We have here only five loaves and two fish. Then he commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass, and he took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven he blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples. And the disciples gave to the multitudes. So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained. Now those who had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children. Oh boy. Talk about lunch. A routine situation. Our routine situations, we can't even handle routine situations. This is lunchtime. But in and of themselves, the disciples could not, they could not handle this. This was beyond what they could handle naturally. They couldn't take care of all these people needing food. I mean, think about it. There was just 5,000 men. So say you had men that had wives and two kids at the least, you're talking a lot of people. That routine situation in God's hands was not a rut. It actually was a miracle. So when you invite God to your routine, you're in line for miracles. Oh my gosh, miracles. Think about how many miracles we might be bypassing because we're not, we're not welcoming God to the routines of our lives. We're waiting for some spectacular moment, and he wants to be part of every moment. Mm-mm. So good, so good. So without the Lord, there was not, there just wasn't enough. They said, this is all we have. I mean, let's just, I don't know. This is Jesus math. This ain't no other kind of math other than Jesus math. You got five fish and two loaves, and then you feed over 5,000 people? My goodness. So welcome, welcome him into our routines. Here's another one. Another routine, another mundane situation. Paying taxes. Oh what joy. Isn't it wonderful? I had to adjust myself in my chair on that one. Matthew seventeen, twenty four through twenty seven. When they had come to Capernaum, those who received the temple tax came to Peter and said, Does your teacher not pay the temple tax? He said yes. And when he had come into the house, Jesus anticipated him, saying, What do you think, Simon? From whom do the kings of the earth take customs or taxes? From their sons or from strangers? Peter said to him, From strangers. Jesus said to him, Then the sons are free. Nevertheless, nevertheless, lest we offend them, go to the sea. I gotta get these words out. I'ma say this again. Jesus said to him, Then the sons are free. Nevertheless, lest we offend them, go to the sea, cast in a hook, and take the fish that comes up first. And when you have opened its mouth, you will find a piece of money. Take that and give it to them for me and you. Taxes out of a fish's mouth. Routine situation. Jesus is involved. You got a miracle. I mean, the Lord is giving this to me right now, in the moment, like miracles, people. Miracles. Miracles are just waiting to happen. If we would involve the Lord in our routine lives, don't leave him out. Don't go on automatic. Don't just say, I got this, I've done this 17,000 times. I know how to do this. Do you really? Can you get your tax money out of a fish? This is this is mind shifts. We got to change our way of thinking. We have to be thinking in Christ. In Christ, we have these types of things available. In Christ, we are not in a rut. In Christ, we welcome him into our routine. This is good. And this is the thing. Peter could have had his own money to pay for the taxes, but what better way than to have it received from Jesus? He could have kept his money and did something else with it because he let Jesus work a miracle in his life because he welcomed Jesus into routine situations. Hallelujah. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Here's another one. Work. The routine situation of work. Let's look at Luke 5, 3 through 6. Then he got into one of the boats. Jesus did. I'm letting you know it's Jesus. Jesus got into one of the boats, which was Simon's, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And he sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat. When he had stopped speaking, he said to Simon, Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch. But Simon answered and said to him, Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing. Nevertheless, at your word I will let down the net, and when they had done this they caught a great number of fish, and their nets were breaking. Listen. This was Simon's, also known as Peter. This was his line of work. He was a fisherman. But get this. He says to Jesus, I did this on my own last night. I did my routine last night. I toiled all night. I did this. I toiled all night and caught nothing. Exactly. You did not catch anything because Jesus wasn't part of your routine. When Jesus came on the scene and told him what to do, everything changed. Everything changed. His net broke. So that ain't no little bit of fish. I mean, nets are made to hold fish. So the amount of fish that had to be in that net for it to break had to be astronomical. So do you see what God is trying to get to you today? He's wanting you to invite him into your everyday routine for him to work miracles. For you not to have to hustle and grind. I'm going to tell you right now, I have given this podcast to the Lord. Lord, this is yours. This is for you to do what you want to do with it. I am not going to hustle and grind. Nope, not going to do it. I want him to do it. I want to see miracles. I want to see how he's going to work this thing out. I'm just here saying what he tells me to say. That's my job. His job is the miracle side of it. I'm just being obedient and believing him. That's what we got to do. Be obedient and believe him. Welcome him in and say, Father, it's on you. I don't have to struggle. I don't have to toil all night. No. So we see three things that could be just viewed as routine. But with the Lord, there was miracles. Lunch, paying taxes, and work. That's good, good, good, good, good. So this is my question to you today. What might you be missing out on by leaving the Lord out of your routine? If you find yourself in a rut, you can immediately shift direction. Welcome the Father in. Welcome in the help that is available. It's available to everyone who is a born-again believer, everyone who has accepted Jesus Christ. This is the hookup that's available. This is just one of the many benefits of salvation. That we don't have to do life by ourselves. I'm not doing no routines by myself. Speak to me, Jesus. When I'm brushing my teeth, when I'm getting my nails done, when I'm going to Kroger. Lord, talk to me. Tell me what I need to know. Tell me what you want me to know. Tell me what I need to do. Tell me what I need to say. That's the life that is offered. So would you pray with me? We're going to pray this together. Say, Father, I welcome you into every inch of my life. I welcome you into the routine places. I welcome you to the places that are hidden. I welcome you into every nook and cranny of my life. There is no place in my life that I will make off limits to you. I know I can trust you. With you, I am safe and I'm in Christ. There is where I am brand new. Thank you, Lord. I am excited to see the miracles that you do in my life. Pause and think on these things until next time. Thank you for joining me today. I really enjoyed our time together. I am very excited about the next episode. It will be one of the most pivotal episodes of our whole podcast journey. You don't want to miss it.
